Today, 48 organizations, including 20 affordable housing organizations, signed a letter to Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to underscore the importance and their continued support of EmPOWER Maryland, the primary policy driver of utility-sponsored energy efficiency programs.
Reducing energy consumption through energy efficiency is the easiest and most cost-effective means of saving money on utility bills. Since its enactment in 2008, EmPOWER has saved a total of 5.4 million Megwatt-hours (MWh) of electricity and more than $4 billion on consumer energy bills, much of that relief targeted to low-income households.
